Tuon Witt

Started my new job at "Tuon Witt Pattana School" (pronounced don-wit)
Iwork with our friend Scott, who also teaches there, and his 4.5 year old son Sebastien is one of my students. Sebastien is in Annuban2, which is like the second level of kindergarden.
He can speak both Thai and English, so hes my little helper around the classroom.
(which i need sometimes)
I show up at the school at 8:00 with Scott and Sebastien, and we walk over to the Directors office.... he isnt there.... that's ok, The manager is. So i went and sat in with the manager, and she gives me a schedule and I look at Monday.....my first class is at 8:10am! So she asks me if i've ever taught before, if I can teach science and if I like living in Thailand. I answered all three questions and she sent me off with a student to show me where my room was.
It was sebastien's class.
i walked in and there was students Muoy Thai'ing each other and jumping off piles of matts, and kicking each other in the air, wrestling each other to the ground, the girls were playing "doctor" and "nurse", two kids got bitten, 3 ended up in tears (the biter cried cause the bite-ee was sad) and i ended up losing my voice.....wish i videotaped it actually...

I walked over and grabbed a chair to set my stuff down on. And I sat down on it and put the stuff on my lap. Then a little girl came over to me and started massaging my arms, then two little boys came up behind me and I heard "...song.....saaam.....JUPE!!" (kiss!) and they both kissed either of my cheeks from behind. Then I laughed and got them all to sit around in a circle. Then one kid came up and started hitting my butt with a ruler while another was laying on the ground trying to look up my skirt. Then one of the kids started crying cause his book had a rip in it, so i was forced to snoop through another teachers desk to look for a piece of tape to fix it for him.... then to top it all off, they can't speak english!!

But thats the only class that I have problems with so far, except for my Prathom 1/1's. I am like the school's Science /English teacher, but I have to teach Prathom 1/1 in Thai.....?!? The manager of the school gave me a sheet for my first day and it was a fill in the blanks sheet written in complete, 100% thai script. and it was describing things and you had to choose wether they were related to the sun or not. And I said "shouldn't I be talking in engluish?" and then the thai teacher came over to me and started talking in Thai explaining that I need to teach them about the sun.
And I was like "ok, so like, how big it is? how far away from earth it is? percentage of water? that kinda stuff....???" and she writes english on piece of paper that says

"use full of sun"

so... i stand in front of the class and introduce myself and draw a sun on the board. ask them what it is, and they said sun. So i thought i was on a roll, and asked for a student to come up and draw sunlight for me. And the thai teacher comes over and stops me and says "no no no...." and opens up a thai textbook and tells me to teach from it???!
Then i look at it and its got a picture of clothes hanging on a clothes line.
I dragged that out for an hour. Along with "the sun can dry fish"

I teach them again this Monday... I wonder what the Thai textbook has to say.....
no really, i wonder!

actually its not that bad, The students are very sweet in most of my classes and the girls follow me everywhere and the boys ask me questions about Canada. And the girls make me oragami, and stick stickers on my shirt and fix the wrinkles inmy clothes when I don't notice. They hold my hand when I walk them to drink their soymilk between classes and they listen for the most part.

The best part is that I get weekends off and paid more money.

We found out today that Korea is going to cost us 35,000 baht for 4 or 5 days. So i dont think we are going to go anymore.
Thats almost 2,000 dollars.

will write more later. have headache!
